Just a little history on how I got involved in the Metal Detecting hobby. In February of 2002, during my annual physical checkup, I was diagnosed as being a Type 2 diabetic (non-insulin). Diet, exercise and medication were the prescriptions by the doctor. I cannot walk just for the sake of walking. Coincidentally, about the same time, I had gotten a flyer in the mail from a metal detecting business in the north Dallas-Ft Worth suburb of North Richland Hills. I checked out the business and ended up purchasing a White's DFX metal detector, a high end general use metal detector. MD is the buzz word for Metal Detecting and a person who partakes in the hobby is an MD'er and the actions one takes is called MD-ing.

I started my first day MD-ing on May 6th, 2002 where I was living near Springtown, Texas. Found a quarter and a penny in the front yard. By the time 2002 came to a close, I had picked up 2,971 coins from the ground and a few rings and other artifacts.

As of July 11, 2010,  the accumulated coin count is at 20,121 with a face value of $1,799.74
